Willemstad

A little color therapy

Waterfront colors, tucked-away courtyards, and streets worth getting a little lost in. Meet the island beyond the beach.

Start at the waterfront

See the Handelskade from across St. Anna Bay, then explore Punda on foot. The Queen Emma pontoon bridge connects Punda with Otrobanda; allow for the bridge opening to let boats pass.

Look beyond the postcard

Build in time for a museum or a guided walk that puts the buildings in context. Plasa Bieu is a place to explore local food. Ask what is being cooked that day and check individual vendors’ opening times.

Leave room for an evening

Return for dinner and a slower wander. Make a reservation if there is a particular restaurant you want to try, and arrange your journey back before settling in for the night.
